Gynecomastia Procedures

Gynecomastia is a condition that affects men. Breast tissue, some of which is normal in males, begins to proliferate. This can happen at any age, but is most common at puberty. This proliferation of breast tissue is not just fat, but actual tissue. In 90% of boys, this may fade with time. In the remainder, surgery may be the only way to get rid of the β€œman-boobs,” as diet and exercise alone may not diminish the unwanted tissue.

My technique for surgical removal involves, first, tumescent liposuctioning with an ultrasonic-assisted liposuctioning cannula, to help tunnel through the tough, fibrous tissue. This is then followed by direct surgical excision. This removal is done all at once through a small incision right around the nipple. The incision is usually very well camouflaged by the areola. The procedure is done as an out-patient, and recovery can be anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the severity of the gynecomastia.
