Learning Corner
A space for honest education on skin, aging, and the treatments that actually work — from the medical providers you already trust.
Welcome, Curious Minds
The aesthetics market is loud. It's saturated with promises, conflicting information, viral TikTok trends, and miracle products that make it hard to know what actually works — and what's worth your time, money, and skin.
We made this corner of the internet for you. A place where our medical providers share what they actually know about your skin, the science of how it ages, and the treatments designed to help. Just real medical perspective from a team that's been doing this for decades.
And here's a promise: we'll also tell you when we just don't know yet. New things hit the market all the time, and you can trust that we'll always give you our honest take — even when that take is "the jury's still out."

Skin Deep — Our Educational Series
The video series below is a 10-part walkthrough of two things we think every patient deserves to understand: the biology of your skin and what's actually happening as you age, and the non-surgical treatments that exist to help. Hosted by the providers you already know with the goal of making the science behind what we do clear, useful, and (we hope) a little fun.
This video series is launching June 2026 with videos released weekly for the next two months!

Okay so EVERYONE is a little different, and some of us in the office are absolutely not A+ students about every step. But we can tell you one thing… every single one of us wears sunscreen everyday plus a big hat 😉. Don’t worry though, the best students absolutely do not need a 27-step daily routine. Protect it from the sun, keep those cells turning over, wash it, moisturize it — that's the skeleton.
Always remember that no two faces are perfectly alike. You need the right things for YOU — and your skin will let you know which those are.
Mineral sunscreen. Every. Single. Day. If you do only one thing on this list, make it this one. Look for something with zinc. Zinc creates a physical barrier that sits on top of your skin and reflects UV. Our gold standard is an EltaMD product. Rain, snow, cloudy, or Colorado sunshine: put it on! Bonus points for a nice big hat to double protect that cute face and skin too.
A retinoid at night. This is another non-negotiable in our book. Retinoids are a family of vitamin A ingredients, from over-the-counter retinols to prescription-strength tretinoin (Retin-A). These are extremely important for keeping skin turning over (which helps with minimizing pores, fine lines, a million things). One thing to know: everyone's skin is different. The right move is typically to start low and slow. A small amount, a couple of nights a week and build up as your skin adjusts. It’s REALLY important to find the right strength / regimen for your skin.
A cleanser. Your skin needs to be washed. What that looks like, though, depends on your skin type. Gentle over-the-counter options like CeraVe and Cetaphil are genuinely great — a few of us in the office with more sensitive skin use them or sometimes just a warm washcloth. For some people, an exfoliating cleanser or treatment pad (like SkinMedica's exfoliating pads) is a nice upgrade that helps clear away dead skin cells. But exfoliation isn't for everyone — if your skin runs sensitive, it can be too much, leaving you red and irritated. Start simple, and listen to your skin.
A quality moisturizer. Healthy skin is hydrated skin. We commonly recommend something like SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid or the CeraVe and Cetaphil products are always easy over-the-counter picks.
For some: a morning serum. Serums are highly personal — this one is not a blanket rule. The right serum depends entirely on your skin type and what it needs. Vitamin C is a popular pick (something like SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic or SkinMedica).for its brightening and environmental-defense benefits — but there are also serums for hydration, pigmentation, redness, barrier support, and more. Some people's skin loves one. Some people's skin says "no thanks." And a heads up for our acne-prone friends: some skin doesn't tolerate vitamin C well, so if yours protests, nix it!
These are a great at-home habits that will reduce how often you need bigger more aggressive interventions. But they're only part of the equation. The rest of the equation can include things like neurotoxins to prevent deeper wrinkling, collagen-and-elastin boosters like biostimulatory injectables, laser treatments, radiofrequency tools (e.g., Morpheus8, Thermage), chemical peels, and microneedling. All of these are tools you can put into a rhythm that fits your skin — and that rhythm is always different for everyone, which is the fun part of our job!
Come see us and we'll map out a plan that's right for your skin, your goals, your calendar, and (importantly!) your budget.

Good news: the best long-term post-facelift skincare is grounded the everyday routine we talk about above. Those everyday daily habits are what protect your investment for years to come. So if you don't have that routine yet, your facelift refresh is the perfect reason to start.
BUT while you're healing, your skin gets a short, well-deserved vacation from the full routine, plus some extra TLC. Rule #1 of any surgery: everyone's body heals differently, so your post-op instructions from the team always come first — including over anything on this page. Keep that in mind as other things come up or you have questions.
Generally, though, recovery care looks something like this:
Hide from the sun!! This is wonderful excuse to buy that gorgeous XXL wide-brim hat. This along with your mineral sunscreen is important for protecting that fresh beautiful face and your scars!
Pause your actives. Retinoids, vitamin C, and exfoliants take a break while your skin heals. You’ll pause these for around 3-4 weeks until your wounds are healed. It’s safest to simply ask us before you restart!
Keep it gentle and hydrated. Simple cleansing and moisturizing only. For healing skin, we do love SkinCeuticals and Hydrinity products. Both have good options designed to support repair while deeply hydrating.
Stay elevated, even while you sleep — and skip the bending over too when you can! This matters most while swelling and bruising are doing their thing, typically the first 2–4 weeks or so. We'll tell you when you're in the clear.
Cool, NEVER EVER cold. A cool washcloth is great; ice or anything truly cold is a not. Why? your skin is temporarily numb after a facelift, so it can't warn you when something is too cold, which means icy compresses WILL injure healing skin without you feeling a thing. Slightly cool is all you need.
Embrace the downtime. Queue up your Netflix and chill watchlist. Rest is always a KEY part of any healing plan.
Want to take your results even further? A facelift lifts and repositions, but pairing it with skin treatments can also elevate your results.
Laser resurfacing can be done during your facelift, or in the office once your swelling has settled. Lasers are an incredible tool that gives a wake-up call for the skin's surface that complements your new look.
A neurotoxin (yes, hello Botox) keeps lines from settling back in. This is a simple, regular, easy treatment that protects that amazing smoothness you just invested in!
Radiofrequency treatments like Morpheus8 or Thermage come into play about a year or two out — the right timing depends on your skin (and your budget!). They stimulate collagen and elastin to help maintain that firmness. Skin maintenance is a long game, and these keep you ahead of it (at least until we figure out how to STOP time 😘).
Any timing questions, big or small — when can I shower? wash my face? restart my retinoid? — save those for us. We'll walk you through all of it at your follow-up.
